Let me tell you a little bit about me!
My Name is Miss Pixie
I have been dancing since the age of 4 & haven't stopped since! I am a professionally qualified dance instructor & choreographer specializing in partner dances such as rockabilly, rock'n'roll, Lindy hop, swing, jitterbug & the list doesn't stop there!
I have for the past 25 years enjoyed designing & making clothing, anything from alternative street wear, vintage reproduction clothing & stage costumes, childrens hand made fancy dress costumes all the way up to formal & wedding dresses.
Back in the 80's when all the "cults" were in, I was introduced to the rockabilly scene & it became a way of life for me. I use to dress, dance, eat & breath rockabilly 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. I was lucky enough to receive alot of interest from the media & appeared in many different programmes & magazines such as "Simon Townsend's Wonder World" , "Level 23" & "A Current Affair" to name but a few as well as magazines such as "Dolly" & "Mode".
I Remember Xmas time one year, not long after I got into the Rockabilly scene, we had a big Rockabilly ball on & I found the most devine vintage 50's ball gown to wear. I thought that it was only fitting that I should have the hair to match...as you do! I took a photo of Marilyn Monroe into one of the local hair salons so that I could have my hair set to match my dress. After spending 3 odd hours in the salon & a whole lot of cash, I went home in tears, pulled my hair out which looked terrible & decided that the only way I was going to get my hair the way I wanted it was by doing it myself. The rest is history!

So whilst I have had no formal training it the art of hair design, nor am I a qualified hairdresser, I have been setting hair for myself & many others for the last 25 years. It has been a process of trial & error. There are very few people that are able to period style & I have certainly got the experience!
I have been hired by many prominent people & company's over the years to set women & mens hair in the 1940's & 1950's style. I was hired by the "Powerhouse Museum" during their exhibition on the 1950's to set visitors hair. I have many authentic products from that era that I display & use during these exhibitions. Another one of my achievements was being hired by a prominent Sydney Business man for a exclusive New Years Eve party that was held at pier 4 "The Sydney Dance Co." The Prime Minister at the time, Paul Keating attended this function. Many of the guests chose to have their hair set by me at the occasion to fit in with the 50's theme of the party.... we all had a ball!
wowee, all these years later I'm still there! I guess because of my love for the 40's/50's era, I am lucky enough to have a job that I love, making people look & feel glamourous!
